Groundbreaking / Digging Basement

July 3, 2008
So we went out to have our groundbreaking ceremony at the new house on Tuesday, July 1, and guess what we saw....

Yep, that's right a great big pile of dirt. I was thinking, "But they weren't supposed to start digging until July 2nd (which was Wednesday)." Let's be honest, I was stoked that they had started digging already, even though we hadn't had our family groundbreaking ceremony.

So we just went ahead and had Noah break ground on ground that was already broken... He didn't mind.

Action shot...

As you can see, he could care less that there was a huge Cat behind him digging the basement. He was very concerned about digging his own dirt. You are probably wondering why he has on a fireman's hat. We didn't have a hard hat (Aunt Julie could you help us out with that?) so we used the next best thing, a hard red fireman's hat.

The rest of the pictures are of the basement being dug.

Moving dirt at the back of our house.

Pile of dirt on the back of our lot.

Grassy area on the right is actually where the garage will be.

James standing at the northeast corner of our home.

We are very excited and will keep you posted on the progress.

Happy 4th of July!
